How a digital teacher planner transformed my teaching!

Taming the chaos of an endless teacher to-do list doesn’t have to be hard! A digital teacher planner will help you keep all of the things in the palm of your hand! Digital planning is so much more than writing your to-do lists down and filling out your calendar pages. The benefits that come with digital planning with blow you away! In this post, I will share a few of my favorite benefits with you!

Small-Group Documentation Made Easy

A few years ago I was struggling with the documentation for my small group time. I met with multiple groups of students in a class period. I felt like the work we were doing together was great but I lacked the documentation needed to prove the work going on in my groups. Thumbing through pages and pages in a binder just felt like a waste of time when I could be focusing more on my group. I decided there had to be a better way.

I created a documentation log inside of my digital teacher planner and with the utilization of the search tool, I figured out a way to document and export data quickly! Using the search tool, you can search a student’s name, add your notes and other info, and then quickly search for the next student. When it comes to exporting the data, it is just as quick. When in a parent conference or IEP meeting, I will search for the student’s name, and every time that name was written or typed in the planner it will appear in the toolbar. I can quickly access grade sheets, parent communication logs, data tracking, small group notes, etc. Exporting these individual pages is just as easy as searching!

Share your lesson plans with ease

Another great benefit of digital planning is the ease of exporting and sharing your lesson plans with colleagues or administrators. My administration likes to see our grading period at a glance using a monthly calendar. I can easily export each page and email it with the click of a button. This way I don’t have to print or write it out more than once.

Lesson Plans are more accessible than ever

Being able to sync my planner across multiple devices is an extreme benefit as well! Using the good notes version I can access my planer on my MacBook, iPad, and phone! Using the google slides option I can access it across the same devices that have the app google slides! I can even link my resources from my google drive in my planner making the ease of planning quicker. Some other digital planning tips for beginners can be found here!

Go Paperless by inserting pages into your planner

Possibly one of my favorite benefits of digital planning that makes my organized soul happy is the ease of inserting papers into my planner and not having stacks and stacks on my desk. When I receive a handout or agenda at a meeting, I quickly insert that page into my planner. When I need to find that page again, I simply use the search tool again and find that page! This helps me stay so much more organized without having endless amounts of papers! Check out the video below to see an example!

Add your templates to your planner!

There are certain forms I must fill out during the school year that are issued by my administration. These forms can easily be adding and duplicated inside a digital teacher planner! Check out my youtube tutorial on adding your own templates into your digital planner!
